About Mandy...

Since arriving in Los angeles, this Canadian native has lived by one rule "Balls to the Wall!"  It is because of this energy that she feels she has been continuously working and been so fortunate to be part of fantastic projects with such talented, gifted people. Mandy has quickly built a sci fi cult audience following appearing as different creatures in the SyFi show Sanctuary including episodes "Fragments" and the pilot "Sanctuary for All."

You've won Best Actress. How was it working on Dead End City?

Filming was great.  Each and every single person working on this show was amazing - our director, the writers, hair/makeup , wardrobe, the whole cast, the entire crew- was spectacular!  There was an energy on set that worked.  It was very intimate and it felt safe.  We truly liked each other and worked well as a team.  We got to know everyone really well.  In fact my female cast members and I actually decided to share a dressing room and we had the best time together.  The chemistry on this show was great and I have no doubt that the audience will see that when they watch the show.

Her incredible patience to endure long hours of creature makeup appliances and full body rubber suits has earned her much respect with the producers and directors of the show. In fact, she actually lost 8 Ibs. in one day from wearing the suit.

Any dressing room cat fights we should know about?
No way!   How can you compete with uniqueness.  The actresses on this show are beautiful, smart, strong and unique.  We really rooted for each other to be the best performers we could be and tried to help each other in any way possible.  I was very lucky to be surrounded by such talented, wonderful, supportive women.  That is what I try to do in my personal life as well.  I love being surrounded by strong women!

Does that mean you...?
I love guys way too much!!!!!  I love the bond that women have and I really care about the women in my life.  I love the inner strength a woman has.  There is something really sexy about a powerful woman, especially a group of them. And when me and my girls get together, we are unstoppable!   I want each and every one of them to have all the success, happiness, and love that they ever dreamt of!

Speaking of powerful women, tell me about Zena, the character you play?
Zena is powerful!  She is strong, sexy, intimidating!  She is not your girl next door.  As Joan Crawford once said "If you want the girl next door, go next door!"

If Zena is intimidating, is Mandy?
I am a girl's girl, so I don't think I am.  I am relatable.

How are you similar to Zena?
Zena is wild and naughty.  And let's be honest, it feels good to be naughty!  Good girls don't make history.

Is that why it is fun to play a femme fatale?
Yes, but it is goes so much deeper than that.  As an actor, my inner work to play a character like this involves a lot of sexual fantasy and going to dark places.  And that for me as an artist is fun.  And of course it is always fun to kick some ass!

Okay so when you are not kicking ass, what is it you are doing in your down time?
I love going to movies alone, reading, having slumber parties with my girls.  And my favorite thing in the world is spending time with my dog Bandit!

What do you feel most comfortable wearing in your down time?
Jeans and a skimpy tee

Well I now what you like about woman, tell me what type of guy you go for?
Confidence is key!  I am turned on by talent.  I like a guy's guy.  Someone who is laid back, easy going.  I like my freedom a lot, so I like a guy who can let me have my space and do my thing.  And a nice butt doesn't hurt!

How would you sum yourself up?
Ambitious, Adventurous, loves life, loves freedom, sensitive, strong, down to earth!

Born in Canada, Mandy's career path has taken her all the way from Newfoundland to California.  She grew up in a small northern town called Wabush in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. After finishing high school at the young age of 16, she decided to attend the University of Ottawa where she would study Business.  It was a logical step, as she thought she would one day become a Corporate Lawyer.  The summer immediately following her University graduation, she worked as a legal assistant at a local law firm.   It was then she realized that she had to follow her heart and pursue her true lifelong dream, which was to become an actor. Mandy moved to Toronto and quickly got an agent.  After landing one of her first professional roles, she made a unique decision.  She decided to take a step away from the industry and put her focus solely on her training as an actor.  Knowing she wanted to make this a lifelong journey, she decided that studying her craft as an actor was the most important thing to her at this stage in her life. She enrolled at the Lyric School of Acting in Vancouver where she studied for the next five years.  And the rest is history!

So, what was it like to grow up in a small town in northern Canada?
I was very lucky to have been raised in a town that believed in community.  It was a simple, normal life- a place where, I feel, you could really have a childhood.  And that environment combined with having the most amazing parents, set a strong, solid foundation for me.   A foundation where I truly understand that happiness comes from within and how to find joy in simple things.

What kinds of things did you do growing up there?
Growing up it was always about being outside.  I grew up in Labrador, which has to be one of the most beautiful, peaceful places in the world.  The land is so untouched there.  My dad and I would always spend our time in nature.  In the summer we would hunt, fish, camp.  In the winter we would snowshoe, snowmobile, ski.  I think it is why I continue to be so active today.  I love to hike, walk, and ride bike.  It really brings me a sense of peace and calm.

So you like to workout?
Well I love to be outside and be active.  As far as working out in a gym, that has always been more difficult, until recently.  I found a place here in Los Angeles called Barry's Boot Camp, which is an indoor gym, but I am obsessed with it.  For the first time in my life I love going to the gym.  First and most importantly, I am seeing the greatest results, in my life, with regards to my body.  But the icing on the cake is that they have the sexiest trainers working there - guys and girls.  And trust me, there is no better motivation to get your ass in shape than some hottie standing behind you pushing you to your limits, cheering you on as you go to your own personal extremes.  It is HOT!!!!!!!
